A Doubting Thomas
April 1, 2010

Growing up in the church,  I heard people say, 'I am a doubting Thomas!'. They little realized what their confession meant. In fact, they had unconsciously allied themselves with a man whose faith in the Master was purely based upon sense knowledge rather than revelation knowledge. Sense knowledge faith is one of the most dangerous enemies and one of the most deep-seated errors in the modern church. The sense knowledge believer knows very little of the Resurrected, Glorified, Exalted Christ, taught in the Pauline Epistles. That person lives in the realm of the natural senses, i.e. 'when I see it I will believe it'. He or she is oft-times suspicious of the man or woman who walks in the spirit. They live by 'Sense Knowledge Faith' instead of 'Revelation Knowledge Faith'. This is the Thomas type of faith. It is faith in what they see, hear or feel rather than faith in the Word of God. The very thing that He demands of us is that we accept His Word as it is, the very Word of God; and that we act upon it, independent of any feeling or any evidence that the eyes can see or the ears can hear. Reading Luke 24:11 you will find a picture of the disciples after May Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary, the Mother of James; and the other women with them told the disciples that Jesus had risen, 'And these words appeared in their sight as idle talk; and they disbelieved them.'  On this Resurrection Sunday, I pray that the Lord would grant to you the 'spirit of wisdom & revelation that you might grow in the knowledge of Christ'! May your heart learn to welcome the impossible knowing that the Great & Resurrection One is in you, is with you, and is for you when you believe on Him and receive Him as your Lord and Saviour! Jesus said, 'Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed!'
